Intro

DRVN BY is an automotive consultancy working with specialist and emerging businesses. We help leadership teams clarify direction, shape strategic programmes and improve how their business performs — from service operations to product strategy and business growth.

Our consultancy approach is informed by creative experience across high-level projects, helping ensure that strategic decisions also land with clarity and coherence.

Our work is practical, strategic, and commercially grounded. We help clients make clearer decisions, shape offers that make sense, and strengthen the way their businesses run in the real world.

What We Do

DRVN BY supports automotive businesses across three key areas: business direction, programme and product strategy, and operational performance.

Our work has a clear understanding of how strategic decisions translate into day-to-day reality.

Business Direction & Company Strategy

We work with owners and senior leadership teams to bring clarity and structure to:

• overall business direction and priorities

• service mix and revenue-generating activities growth, repositioning, or stabilisation

• planning alignment between ambition, resources, and capability

• decision-making during periods of change

This often involves helping businesses refine their focus, identify areas of opportunity or inefficiency, and ensure that future plans are commercially realistic and operationally achievable.

Product, Programme & Positioning Strategy

We support the development of new products, services, and programmes by helping clients:

• define purpose, value proposition, and customer fit

• understand market context and competitive positioning

• shape structure, pricing logic, and offer clarity

• align new initiatives with the wider business model

• reduce the risk of misaligned investment

Whether launching a new programme, introducing a specialist division, or refining an existing offer, our role is to provide experienced, objective perspective before key decisions are locked in.

Operations, Aftersales & Service Performance

We work with workshops, service departments, and specialist operations to improve:

• workflow, utilisation, and operational efficiency

• communication between departments and roles

• customer journey, retention, and experience

• service profitability and commercial balance

• structural or process friction limiting performancee

The emphasis is on practical, measurable improvement — ensuring that operations are not only busy, but productive, profitable, and aligned with the wider direction of the business.

Advisory & Consultancy Engagements

Our involvement may take the form of:

• defined consultancy projects

• operational or strategic reviews

• phased programme support

• retained advisory relationships

Each engagement is structured around the needs, scale, and objectives of the client, with fees and scope agreed in advance.

STRATEGIC SUPPORT

We support high-level strategy around:

• purpose and positioning of new programmes and products

• how projects sit within market and competitive context

• value, ambition, and commercial appropriateness

• brand relevance, heritage alignment, and future direction

ADVISORY

We also work in an advisory capacity, providing structured input that complements our existing capabilities, as well as:

• early-stage product strategy and direction

• positioning strategy and market / perception context

• structured advisory input on active programmes

• considerations around long-term business stability, direction, and service focus

How We Work

We work in defined phases — discovery, insight and implementation support — tailored to each client’s needs. Our approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on tangible outcomes.

Who We Work With

DRVN BY works with automotive businesses, typically in environments where clarity of direction, commercial performance, and operational effectiveness are critical.

Our clients are often navigating periods of development, transition, or growth, where experienced external perspective and structured consultancy support can add measurable value.

• OEMs, low-volume and specialist manufacturers

We work with businesses where workshop and service performance play a central role, such as:

• independent specialist workshops

• aftersales and service departments

• restoration and heritage operations

• storage facilities with technical capability

• multi-discipline automotive service providers

Our involvement focuses on improving workflow, utilisation, customer experience, and ensuring operational activity translates into sustainable profitability.

• early-stage automotive brands

• businesses entering new markets

• companies launching new services or divisions

• organisations restructuring or scaling operations

Support typically includes business direction, programme and product strategy, positioning clarity, and operational alignment.

RM SOTHERBY'S MIAMI: RESILIENT, BUT HARDLY ELECTRIC

This past weekend, Moda Miami — billed as “An Invitation to the Extraordinary” — endured torrential storms that turned the Biltmore Hotel grounds and adjacent golf course into ankle-deep water, sending visitors scrambling for cover.

Despite the disruption, more than 400 cars remained on display and, remarkably, no serious vehicle damage has been reported. The event survived the weather. The auction did much the same.

Porsche collector and part-time Stuttgart ambassador Magnus Walker has decided to auction part of his personal and eclectic mix of 911s, 928s, 944s and boxes of classic Porsche spare parts.

Each car carries Walker’s unmistakable personal touch and, for those familiar with his lifestyle, represents some of the most distinctive Porsches and assortment of spares likely to appear at auction.

Before becoming synonymous with air-cooled culture, the British-born entrepreneur from Sheffield built a career in fashion design. His long-held Porsche dream began modestly, funded by renting out his Los Angeles home for video shoots — a creative hustle that ultimately allowed him to start assembling what would become a widely recognised collection.

Describing his collection as “an out-of-control hobby”, Walker now feels the time is right to part with eighteen cars, while retaining the remaining thirty or so still scattered across his Californian compound.

The cars will be offered by RM Sotheby’s between 18–25 March.

Gooding Christie’s appears to be going in surprisingly strong with the estimate for this 1993 Porsche 968 Turbo S being auctioned at the Amelia Island Conours 2026.

To give the auction house some credit, the Turbo S is an exceptionally rare car, with just 14 examples officially produced between 1993 and 1994.

London dealer Joe Macari has brought one of the most significant competition McLarens to market, listing McLaren F1 GTR chassis 16R — a car that competed at the 1996 24 Hours of Le Mans — with a rumoured $30 million price tag.

One of the rarest iterations of the F1 lineage, 16R represents the era when McLaren’s road-derived racer reshaped international GT competition.

Are Classic EV Conversions Running Out of Road?

Britain’s transition to zero-emission vehicles is beginning to show signs of strain. What was once presented as a clear and inevitable pathway now appears increasingly dependent on assumptions that have not materialised.
